At the Essex Masters event held in Basildon, Liz Woolner achieved from 4 races, 4 wins and 2 East Region records – 400 free and 50 free and 4 Beds records – 100 & 200 free on the way to the 400 free!

Thomas Allen swam all of the 10 men’s races and came away with 2 silvers for the 400 free and 100 back and a bronze for the 100 fly.

Sam Fox swam to a silver position in the 100 breaststroke and bronze in the 50 backstroke with Mike Outtram swimming to 3 gold medals for the 50 back, 100 back and the 200 free and a silver medal for the 100 IM, all Bedfordshire County records.

In Bedfordshire, a group of 20 swimmers from FDSC took part in the Linslade Crusaders Ruby Open Meet and brought home 33 gold, 33 silver and 15 bronze medals and achieved a huge number of personal best times. Highlights include Niamh, Joseph, Oscar and Max achieving regional qualifying times in a number of events as well as Derry achieving four new personal best times, with 12 seconds off her 200 IM, bringing home 3 silver medals and 2 bronze medals.

Daniel De Filippo was at the Putteridge long course meet at the weekend. From 9 races he achieved 7 PBs, won 2 golds for the 50 back and 50 breast, 2 silvers for 50 free and 100 back, and 2 bronzes for 200 breast and 200 back. Daniel gained 4 long course club records for boys age 13 in the 50 breaststroke, 50 backstroke, 100 backstroke and the 200 backstroke

Daniel had this to say: “It was a great experience, I was up against really fast swimmers but everyone at FDSC were really supportive of me and each other. The swimmers were so pleased to receive great feedback from Louise and Nigel and great support from Angela”.

Neve Jones had an excellent swim at Putteridge, gaining her 50m fly regional time on the Sunday.

Subject to ratification, Liz Woolner is waiting to hear if she has set a new European record for the ladies age 55-59, 100 m butterfly in a time of 1:09:89 that she swam at the Calverton & Bingham Masters meet held at Hucknell Leisure Centre on Sunday the 20th March 2022. Liz also broke the East Region record for 200 IM.
