Congratulations to Katie Tompkins and James Handler

club captains 2017 2018
We love spending time with all swimmers providing support and advice, but mainly just cheering you on and having a laugh with you! However we appreciate that we’re not able to see everyone all the time, and in order to completely fulfil our roles as Captain’s we’ve decided to create a Captain’s email address.

The purpose of this email account would be for swimmers only (any parents should direct issues straight to swim club manager) to contact either of us with any issues you may be having involving swimming, ask any questions you have, or ask for any advice. Or of course arrange to talk in person with either of us. This could be anything from worries about competing, to struggling with a lack of confidence. We’ve both been in the club for a very long time, and will always try our very best to help you overcome any issue.

Of course this would be very confidential, and anything we received in the email would stay between us and yourself. If we believed the problem was something more serious for example a welfare issue, it would naturally be passed onto someone more senior, for example the Welfare officer.

If you are a swimmer at FDSC and you would like the email for the Club Captains, please contact the Club Secretary whose email address is on the club website contacts page and the club captains email details will be sent to you.

The club captain email  is for ANY swimmer to use should they want to. Only James and myself have the login details for it, and these can be changed and passed down to any future captains should they wish to use it.

It may be that no swimmers use this form of contact with us- which is okay! It’s just always there as an option so that every swimmer can feel supported at any time.

Thank you for taking time to read this.

We competed in Round 3 of Arena League on Saturday 10th December at Bletchley Leisure Centre, with Flitwick Dolphins hosting their very first round of this event. What a fantastic success it was for everyone involved.  Three rounds - three wins - first in the Division!  As Club Captains we couldn't have been more proud to represent you and to collect the winners' pennant.

Well done everyone - as a team we were amazing!  We lead from the very start and with many fantastic swims and PBs we were very worthy winners.  As always, thanks to Nigel and Judy, but also to everyone from FDSC who helped to organise a very successful evening.

The Club Captains' award for Swimmer of the Gala went to Thomas Allen who cheered from the very first race right through to the end.  Congratulations Thomas!
We look forward to competing in Division 2 next year but in the meantime continue to train hard as Counties is only a few weeks away.

We competed in Round 2 of Arena League on Saturday 12th November at Daventry and once again you were all very supportive of each other with a fantastic team spirit.

After a very closely fought competition we came first and this was all down to your excellent swimming - well done everyone. Thanks also to Nigel and Judy for your support and encouragement on poolside.

Most of us enjoyed a very hard earned McDonalds afterwards and as Club Captains we gave the award for Swimmer of the Gala to Conor Sweeney. Well done Conor and thank you for stepping in at the last minute to ensure that we had a full team.

Continue to train hard everyone and let's try and make it 3 wins out of 3 when we compete in the final round in December.

Last month our Junior League team competed in the second round of the league in Staines.
It was brilliant seeing so many smiley faces on the coach! At the pool the atmosphere was great, with so many of you cheering on and supporting your teammates which is what we love to see. We had lots of fun chatting to you all as well as giving you advice, and we are aware that for many of you that was one of your first competitions. But despite this you performed well and approached the gala with a superb attitude.
With two weeks until the final round, now would be a good time to talk to your coach about anything you’re a little unsure of about your swimming or about racing in general. Or you can chat to myself and James about any concerns or just for a bit of advice; remember we’ll be there on the day as well to support you too!
Overall, you’re all doing fantastic, and lets really focus in training these next 2 weeks to really smash it in round 3!

Hey everyone! Just a quick message from your Club Captains. Katie and James.

This weekend the club competed in the Biggleswade Open Meet, and to say we were impressed by you all would be an understatement. The meet was challenging and were all faced with little rest and refuel time between races.
However despite this, you all performed incredibly well with masses of medals, PBs and club records, as well as the overall Best girl being awarded to our own swimmer Sophie Fowler, with Tyler Watson being runner up for Best boy. Everyone showed an immense amount of support for each other which we were very pleased to see. You all achieved a lot this weekend; your examples of great sportsmanship are something to be proud of. Also thank you to Nigel, Judy, Anna, and Ian for coaching and team managing this weekend as well as for the words of encouragement.
Finally, our efforts resulted in us winning the 'Best visiting club' award, which together we were delighted to go up and accept on behalf of the club. This result is due to all of your fantastic swims and dedication in training, so keep up the hard work!
From your club captains - Katie and James
